Description
Antaeus, L.A.’s Classical Theater Ensemble, has a 17-year history of presenting classical plays through full productions, workshop presentations, festivals and staged readings. Actor-driven, our current roster of over 100 members includes a range of theater professionals, all committed to on-going text and period study that yields lively and engaging work. Our Academy’s accomplished instructors and guest moderators provide classical training to young professionals through scene study and performance opportunities. Through participation in L.A. Unified School District’s Arts Community Partnership, we bring professional classical performance and workshops into area middle schools. Our Monologue Competition features ensemble members coaching high school students to understand and perform Shakespeare. We also maintain a library containing over 10,000 volumes relating to classical theater.
