Description
"The Animal Rescue League of Western Pennsylvania (ARL) was established in 1909 when five Pittsburghers with a shared concern for both animal welfare and the public health, came together to form the organization. ARL works to educate the public in the proper relationship with animals; to provide temporary shelter, food, and medical attention to neglected and injured animals; to restore lost animals to their owners or to seek new homes for them; and to secure merciful solution for imperiled pets. In 2003, ARL reached our goal of becoming a "no-kill" shelter for adoptables two years ahead of our original target of 2005."
