Amizade connects people across cultures through service around the world. We give people the chance to make a difference through community-driven volunteer programs and service-learning courses for university credit.
You can participate in Amizade programs as a volunteer or student, as an individual or part of a larger group.
Our programs incorporate five core values:
Deliberate Community-Based Learning
Intercultural Immersion and Exchange
Consideration of Global Citizenship
Our values create the framework for a unique experience volunteering or studying abroad. We cooperate with communities and work collaboratively to identify and solve issues with a sustainable solution. As a participant, you will connect across cultures to learn, share, and stretch your knowledge.
We invite all participants to reflect on fundamental human equality and how we might each work to build a wold where human life is treated more equally across traditional cleavages of ethnicity, nation, class, or gender.
We believe service teaches us about the world and about ourselves, though the questions we face when engaged in intercultural service are often difficult. We believe it is important to continue asking "How can I value others around the world? How can I be a global citizen from my home?"
