Description

Amigos de Chocola is a nonprofit, 501(c)3 corporation whose mission is to provide sustainable economic, social, cultural and educational support to the impoverished village of Chocola, Guatemala. The agency is operated by a volunteer board of directors and a volunteer Executive Director so all proceeds go directly to programming that benefits the people most in need in the village of Chocola. Although the agency is only 9 months old, there are two sustaining programs in place. One is a scholarship fund that is currently providing tuition and expenses for a promising villager to attend college. A second is supporting the Casa de Cultura, an office that provides cultural, social and economic information and assistance to the village and helps to support the archeological treasure that lies beneath the village.
