To fulfill the mission of protecting and promoting the health and well-being of children and youth through coordinated school health programs as a foundation for school success, the American School Health Association (ASHA) publishes a professional journal (the Journal of School Health) and other materials for school health professionals, conducts professional conferences and offers other professional development opportunities, offers scholarships and research grants for undergraduate and graduate students preparing for careers in school health, and advocates for children's health and safety issues. The members of this professional association include school nurses, health educators, physicians, school administrators (including school health coordinators), mental health providers, and others who work in or with schools on health and safety issues.
