Description
The American Red Cross in Westchester County provides free disaster-relief services to families and individuals affected by fires, floods and storms. Emergency assistance includes food, clothing, housing and mental health counseling. The local Red Cross Chapter also provides blood services and teaches first aid and CPR, disaster planning and preparedness for families, water safety, lifeguard training, swimming and various aquatics skills, babysitting skills, HIV/AIDS education and prevention, and more. The Red Cross emergency communications service for members of the armed forces gets important messages from local families to their loved ones serving far from home. Annually, the Westchester Red Cross touches the lives of thousands of residents with these various services.
