The American Red Cross is a humanitarian organization, led by volunteers, that provides relief to victims of disasters and helps people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. The American Red Cross is the largest volunteer organization in the United States. Founded in 1917, the Upstate South Carolina Chapter combines the skills and dedication of a professional staff with a corps of trained local volunteers who are supported by the full resources of the American Red Cross.
