American Friends of Un Techo Para Mi Pais is the U.S. fundraising branch of Un Techo Para Mi Pais.
Un Techo para mi Pais (UTPMP) is a Latin American non-profit organization that mobilizes youth volunteers to eradicate the extreme poverty that affects more than 80 million people in the region. Our vision is to build a Latin America without poverty, where everyone has access to basic shelter and a real chance to improve their quality of life. To achieve this, UTPMP uses a unique multi-phase method to achieve long-term, sustainable change in the social structure. We begin with the construction of transitional houses, followed by social inclusion programs and, eventually, the development of sustainable communities. Since our founding in 1997 in Chile, we have mobilized more than 250,000 volunteers to build 73,500 transitional houses in 19 countries in Latin America.
