Description

American Friends of Georgia (AFG) is a non-profit, non-political public charity with 501(c)3 tax-exempt status. AFG was formed in 1994 to help the country of Georgia during a difficult post-Soviet transitional period. The organization's mission is to provide practical humanitarian assistance to Georgians and thus improve the region's educational, economic, social, medical and environmental conditions.
AFG raises funds in the United States for Georgian hospitals, orphanages, schools and new non-profits which might otherwise be overlooked by larger donors. AFG only funds projects where relief is sure to reach the needy.
AFG also supports Georgian artists' efforts to preserve and promote their art and culture. In addition, AFG is committed to improving Georgians' access to information in such areas as depression and drug addiction therapy, the treatment of cancer and infectious disease, and the education of disabled children.
