Description
ADC is a grassroots organization whose mission is to defend the civil rights of all people of Arab descent. Non-sectarian and non-partisan, ADC is the largest Arab-American grassroots organization in the United States. It was founded in 1980 by former U.S. Senator James Abourezk and has chapters nationwide. Our current programs include assisting individual victims of discrimination with advocacy services and legal referrals, providing information to groups through such activities as “Know Your Rights” workshops, and advocating on behalf of Arab Americans through coalitions working for legal and policy reforms. We also advocate in the media and political arena for fair and respectful treatment of Arab-American issues. In addition, we hold events designed to educate the larger public on civil and human rights issues and promote our rich cultural heritage. ADC-NY is the New York State office of ADC.
