The Alzheimer's Association, the world leader in Alzheimer's research & support, a voluntary health organziation dedicated to finding preventions, treatments and, eventually, a cure for Alzheimer's disease.
The Chapter provides programs & resources to individuals, families, & health professionals.There's an estimated 500,000 individuals with Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia. In 2005, the Chapter conducted 575 education programs - attended by 21,570 individuals. There are 170 Chapter support groups which meet monthly, the Safe Return Training & Enrollment Program .
The 24/7 Helpline in 2005 received 7031 calls from families dealing with the challenges of every stage of the disease. Callers can obtain information &guidance concerabout: geriatirc assessment, home safety, wandering, support groups, difficult behaviors, residential/home care agencies & community resources. 1.800.272.3900
