The mission of our Chapter is to eliminate the incurability of Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research, and to enhance the care and support for individuals, their families, and caregivers affected by Alzheimer’s disease.
Our chapter serves an area roughly equivalent to one-half of the landmass of the Commonwealth of Virginia. According to Federal census data, there are at present approximately 33,000 individuals with Alzheimer’s disease in our service region. And we are anticipating this figure to at least double by 2050.
We currently have offices in Charlottesville,
Danville, Harrisonburg, Lynchburg, Roanoke and
Waynesboro and are looking into establishing an
office presence in traditionally isolated Page County and in growing Montgomery County. Our goal remains to position ourselves in a cost-effective manner to deliver our support programs and educational services as closely as possible to where people with Alzheimer’s reside.
