Description
The Alpine Watershed Group preserves Alpine county's streams, lakes, and groundwater for future generations.
Our volunteers and partners work to protect the quality of our waters and the health of our landscape. Through our programs and partnerships, we preserve the headwaters of the Carson, Mokelumne, Stanislaus, Truckee and American river, providing clean water to Western Nevada and California’s Central Valley.
The Alpine Watershed Group continually monitors the water quality and watershed health in Alpine County. The information guides us in prioritizing restoration objectives. Partnering with public agencies and private foundations we conduct restoration projects to protect our streams, meadows, and uplands. Volunteers and community members are taught important aspects of watershed management and preservation. Each year we host several community events throughout Alpine County to invite individuals of all ages to learn more about their watersheds.
