As one of the oldest women’s organizations in Abilene and the Big Country, the Alliance for Women & Children (formerly YWCA) has supported women and their families since 1920. Founded by Christian women, our roots lie equally in feminism and in faith.
Alliance for Women & Children empowers women and families and embraces ethnic diversity through programs designed to promote well being, self-sufficiency and future success.
In support of this mission the Alliance is committed to, but not limited to the following. . .
Providing affordable and accessible after school childcare to ensure no child goes home alone;
Providing programs for middle school girls empowering them make smart choices today and preparing them for a positive future;
Providing breast and cervical cancer screenings to medically underserved women and breast health education to all citizens of Abilene and the West Central Texas region.
