Description

Albany Barn is a 501 C 3 organization working to bring new life to the former St Joseph's Academy in Albany's neglected Arbor Hill neighborhood, by transforming the space into 22 affordable live/work lofts for low income artists, as well as 12,000* square feet of "incubator space" that will make the creative arts affordable and accessible to artists and neighborhood residents. The community arts space will include a digital media lab, art gallery, performance space, and rehearsal and work suites/studios. as well as commercial space for other community arts organizations. Albany Barn hopes to leverage the creative talents of local artists to revitalize a community through education, apprenticeships, and positive creative outlets for at-risk youth. Additionally, by providing affordable live/work space and access to marketing tools, Albany Barn will elevate the position of the 'starving artist' and make way for the creative arts as a viable and sustainable profession.ntat
