    The Alabama Symphony Orchestra, a 501c3, is the 2nd largest performing arts organization in Alabama. The ASO provides exhilarating performances, innovative educational programs and enriching outreach services for all Alabamians. The ASO is a dynamic and fiscally sound organization generating approximately $17 million in direct and indirect revenue benefitting our state. The ASO operates a balanced budget of approximately $5.5 million and employs a full-time orchestra of 54 musicians and staff of 17. Yearly, the ASO performs for approximatley 115,000 people, reaching 11,000 school children with educational concerts, and providing free concerts for more than 20,00 residents through community outreach. The ASO is proud to collaborate with outstanding organizations, such as the Alabama Ballet, Birmingham Opera, the Cultural Alliance of Greater Birmingham, and others to enhance our rich arts community. Ticket revenue only covers 40% of operational costs.
