Description
This is a nonprofit organization that runs a home for street children in Kisumu, Kenya. It also provides schooling, life training and vocational training. Most of these children were orphaned by AIDS. In this culture, girls who lose their parents are kept in the family to help in the garden or to take care of children. But boys are considered a burden and are either sent away to the streets or run away because of poor treatment by overburdened and reluctant family members. There are literally thousands of these boys in almost every corner of Africa. But Agape Children's Ministry is trying to rescue as many as possible by providing a loving home, food and clothing, educational opportunities, medical treatment, and a safe environment.
