Our mission is to provide support for Deaf and Hard of Hearing adults and their children who are or have been victims of domestic violence and or sexual assault. A safe environment of empowering, advocacy, and educational/training services will be offered to them. We believe it is empowering for them to see people like themselves in running the organization. The majority of our officers are women and Deaf. In this way, we act as role models for not only victims but also for the Deaf community. All staff, advocates and volunteers are fluent in American Sign Language. ASADV has advocates on staff to assist people who are victims and survivors of domestic violence and/or sexual assault and need help. Services are free of charge and available to people who are Deaf, Deaf-Blind or Hard of Hearing and residents of Monroe County (Rochester, New York).
