Description
Adventure Rabbi: Synagogue Without Walls programs combine Jewish learning and prayer experiences with outdoor activities, such as hiking, backpacking, and skiing. In addition to private trips and life-cycle events (which provide operations income for the organization) we currently run outreach programs that are open to the community. We generally run one Shabbat trip per month, two extended trips a year and three Friday night mountain top services. In addition to the trips themselves, we provide lengthy email, phone and in person consultation for potential participants.
Our programs have been resoundingly successful at reaching unaffiliated Jews in their 20s and 30s and bringing them back to Judaism. Part of our success is linked to the fact that we require no commitment, no (or minimal) fee and no RSVP. However, because we run the community trips at a loss, we look to other funding sources to keep them going.
