Description
Abby's House was founded in 1976 in Worcester MA as an emergency overnight shelter for women and children. Today, in addition to the nine bed shelter, we operate 78 units of service-enriched, affordable housing. Shelter guests and housing residents work with staff advocates to achieve the highest possible level of independence. Abby's House offers a meals program, Thrift Shop and access to our Women's Center for educational and cultural programs in a social environment.
In our thirty year history, Abby's House has sheltered and supported more than 10,000 women and children. We rely on more than 200 volunteers annually and the financial support of individuals, foundations and community groups and corporations. Eighty-nine cents of every dollar donated to Abby's House goes directly to programs for homeless and battered women and children.
