AAA Fair Credit Foundation (FCF), founded in 1997, is an award-winning 501c3 nonprofit community service agency dedicated to expanding financial capability for all. Our programs and services are designed to assist individuals and families move from crisis to control and create a long-term action plan for financial security. These programs and services include certified credit counseling, HUD approved homebuyer education, HUD approved foreclosure prevention counseling, debt management relief programs, money management education, workplace financial education, and asset building programs.
FCF is home of the Utah Individual Development Account Network (IDA matched savings program), Utah Saves, and is a community partner in several initiatives promoting financial security: Utah Foreclosure Crisis Coalition, Housing and Education Coalition of Utah, Earn It. Keep It. Save It. (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance), and the Utah Council on Financial and Economic Education which spearheads the statewide Believe In Your Future Financial Empowerment and Bank On Utah campaigns.
Our programs and services empower financially distressed individuals and families so they may prevent foreclosure, avoid bankruptcy, make informed spending decisions, increase savings, improve credit worthiness, access mainstream financial services, obtain gainful employment, and reach goals of homeownership, microenterprise, college/vocational education, retirement savings, and more. Individuals who seek assistance through FCF have access to a full range of solutions for almost any financial crisis or obstacle. By helping families improve their financial capability skills and develop/reach financial goals, we strengthen Utah communities through economic opportunity and fiscal responsibility.
FCF is a recognized leader in the community by the media, by individual community leaders, and by other local nonprofit community partners. We have been ISO 9001:2008 certified through BSI Americas since 2001 and an accredited business through the Better Business Bureau since 1999, consistently maintaining an A+ rating. Other awards include the Alfred P. Sloan Award for Business Excellence in Workplace Effectiveness and Flexibility (2012, 2011, 2009, 2008), Ernst & Young Social Entrepreneur of the Year (2010), United Way of Salt Lake’s President’s Award for Excellence (2006), and the Utah Best of State award in the Financial Planning Services category (2004).
Additionally, we are a member in good standing of the National Community Reinvestment Coalition (our HUD housing counseling intermediary), Rural Community Assistance Corporation (RCAC), Association of Credit Counseling Professionals, Utah Nonprofits Association, Utah Housing Coalition, Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce, and the Utah Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
In 2012, the Consumer Federation of America (CFA) invited FCF to join its membership. The CFA is a national association of nonprofit consumer organizations that was established in 1968 to advance the consumer interest through research, advocacy, and education. We are the first consumer credit counseling agency ever invited and accepted into the CFA’s membership in its 44 year history.
