A Precious Child’s mission is to make a positive impact in the lives of disadvantaged and displaced children by improving their quality of life. A Precious Child was founded to assist children during times of poverty and misfortune by discretely and compassionately providing life’s most basic essentials. A Precious Child addresses Colorado’s substantial increase in poverty, the vulnerability of children living in poverty and the tendency for caregivers to ration these essentials in order to meet other basic needs such as food and shelter. A Precious Child believes that access to basic needs such as clothing, school supplies and other essentials has a significant impact on a child’s self-confidence and academic success leading to a derailment of the cycle of poverty.
Precious Essentials program strives to increase the self-sufficiency of disadvantaged and displaced families by ensuring access to appropriate clothing and basic necessities, free of charge. Donated clothing is inventoried, sorted, and displayed in a “retail-like” atmosphere for clients to shop.
Precious Boutique program culminated out of a desire to improve accessibility to basic needs for the most vulnerable populations. A Precious Child sets up a small clothing bank in a feasible space within the schools and shelters and stocks it with a variety of clothing and essentials.
Basics 4 Babies program provides direct aid to mothers and families who might otherwise ration or go without basic necessities for their babies.
Fill A Backpack program strives to maximize academic potential for disadvantaged and displaced children. A Precious Child provides thousands of disadvantaged children with backpacks filled with school supplies through our partner organizations including social services, foster associations, schools, fire and police department, shelters and human service organizations.
giveSPORTS provides new and gently-used sports equipment to children who cannot afford the cost of equipment.
Precious Gift provides gifts to children who otherwise would not receive any during monumental times in their life such as birthdays and the holiday season.
