9th Life Hawaii is Maui's only nonprofit, NO-KILL Cat Rescue & Sanctuary . We believe the only way to compassionately control the cat population is through feline spay/neuter. To achieve those goals we provide free spay/neuter services. We also provide sanctuary to those kitties that have no other place to safely stay, such as cat colonies that have been under attack by humans or dogs or both. We advocate Trap/Neuter/Release at feral cat colonies and cats such as those trapped in Cane Fields are never returned to the Cane Fields which are routinely set on fire as part of the harvesting process. Sugar is Maui's second largest industry. Cane Field kitties remain at our sanctuary, until/if a loving home can be found for them. Many are dumped in the cane fields by uncaring owners and the second and future generations are wild and therefore most are unadoptable. We believe these too have a right to live and we have many such cats at our sanctuary.
